Hi there,

This is a blog about the practical issues of packing for travel. 

My full name is Dagmar Isabel Goovaerts Bern. Having the call "DOGMUH" at coffee-shops, I found that I needed to use a more International name in most foreign countries. The Goovaerts name I have from my mother. It is Dutch, and I am very proud of my heritage from Maastricht. My greatgrandfather was the painter Henri Goovaerts. For practical reasons I use the short form of my name.

 I had my own passport from a very young age, occupation was noted as "Baby". That was needed with my International parents and a lot of travel. By the time I was two I had been in twenty countries. I still love travelling, and I always try to make it as easy and pleasant as possible.

I have written the book (in Norwegian) "THE LITTLE BOOK OF PACKING: How to Pack Smart to Travel Light". 

"PAKKEBOKEN", "The Packing Book", was quite popular in Norway. I was happy to be interviewed by TV, radio and the press. Below you see me presenting the ideas from the book on the TV-show "Good Morning, Norway", on national channel TV2.

The idea for the book and the blog came to me when I was standing in line at the Security Check at Oslo Airport. Strangly, it was new to some people that belts should be taken off, keys, coins and mobiles should go in the trays, with laptops and pads as well. The people working there had to say it to way too many people, and we had already passed plenty of signs saying the same thing. So I thought it could be a good idea to collect practical information in one place, so that at the moment of preparation for your travels, you can get the helpful hints to make travel smooth for everybody. It is like an A la carte menu, you only enjoy what you like.

My suggestion is you decide ahead, leave the bulky and heavy items at home, and plan for a light travel. All for a convenient and easy vacation.
