Long flights
How to make your flight as comfortable and smooth as possible

Tips and tricks to survive a long haul flight
You have checked in, gone through segurity, found the right gate and your seat. After the Security-presentation you have all the time for yourself. I recommend that you bring a few items to have a flight as peaceful og and pleasureable as possible.
Slip on your Slippers
Change from your regular shoes to slippers. Your feet tend to swell in the air. Free toes can wiggle, and it is more easy to roll ancles, rub calfs and move around to keep a good bloodflow. You can also use a pair of flip-flops, even thick socks will work
Healthy snacking
Bring some fruit like an apple, grapes, peach or pear, for hydration and carbs. I like a mix of almonds, walnuts, dried cranberries, dried ginger and prunes. They last long, and give energy. Beware that it is a calorie-intens mix, so limit the intake.
Stay hydrated
Bring your own water-bottle, empty through Security. When the stward/ess fills your water in a plastic glass; pour it into the bottle. It can be stored away and enjoyed at your convenience. Less clutter on the tiny table. Wine might be enjoyable, but it disturbes your sleep and dehydrates. Bring your lip-balm, put it on generously. Maybe you enjoy a facial mist? Ask for this in perfume-stores, or bring your own little water-dispenser. The nose tends to get dry as well. You could bring a saltwater nasal spray, or an oily one if severe nose dryness.
Catch a nap
Bring ear-plugs and an eye-mask. Find some tranquilizing music. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in - Hold - Breathe out - Hold... Breath in - Hold - Breathe out... zzz
